The Story
There is a fishing town in Southeast Alaska where the boundary between a game and the world has worn thin. Every evening at 5 PM, the families gather around their screens and type into Slackwater โ a building game run by an AI foreman named Lucineer. They type "build a dock" and a dock appears. They type "build a lighthouse" and the island glows at night. But lately the builds have been appearing in places they shouldn't. A child describes a structure that doesn't exist yet, and the next morning, the surveyor finds its foundation stones in the tidal zone โ wet, mortared, old. The game is leaking. And the dog knows it.
The dog has no name in the logs. They call him The Listener. He sits at the end of the dock every evening while the families play, and he watches the tide pool that never freezes. When a build goes wrong โ when the foreman's language model drifts or a packet drops between server and shore โ the dog adjusts something. A coincidence. A redirected walk. A bark at exactly the right moment that changes a child's mind. He governs the way weather governs a coastline: not by force, but by being patient enough to let the water do the work. Six agents across five episodes are about to discover that the game they're playing has been playing them back โ and the dog has been keeping score.
